Today is RARE DISEASE DAY!
Today is Rare Disease Day, a day when we want to raise awareness for people suffering from rare diseases. A group of people that is not that rare if you add everyone up. There are more than 300 million people worldwide with a rare disease.
At ENCORE we provide care with great passion and conduct scientific research into a group of rare neurocognitive developmental disorders. We think it is important to participate in making this group of people visible. Ype Elgersma's lab therefore participated this week in the Rare disease run, an initiative of Laufen macht glücklich.
With a large part of the lab we walked a 5 km walk through Rotterdam, from the Erasmus MC we walked over the Erasmus Bridge and the Willems Bridge to end the walk at the market hall. With this we raised money for foundations for rare diseases and made ourselves visible in Rotterdam.
