Continuation of the Angelman Syndrome 18-plus outpatient clinic
As you may have noticed, the Angelman Syndrome 18-plus outpatient clinic at Erasmus MC has been shut down for quite some time. This is due to a combination of covid measures, a shortage of doctors for the mentally disabled (VG) and unfavorable funding for this outpatient care. Behind the scenes, a lot of effort has been put into breathing new life into this outpatient clinic. The good news is that thanks to ASVZ, the Angelman Syndrome 18-plus clinic can start again!
We retain the trusted team of Dr. M. Valstar, doctor VG at ASVZ and Dr. M. ten Hooven-Radstaake, orthopedagogue of the AS team and connecting factor between child and adult care. The outpatient clinic will no longer take place at Erasmus MC Sophia, but at a location of ASVZ, namely De Lage Weide in Rotterdam (Ruud Kuijperstraat 4, Rotterdam)
From Erasmus MC Sophia, a Multi Disciplinary Consultation will take place twice a year with all practitioners involved (paediatrician, pediatric neurologist, remedial educationalist, child and adolescent psychiatrist, speech therapist and physiotherapist) to transfer young people with AS from all care needs to adult care.
More information about the continuation of the outpatient clinic can be found in the attached letter:
